Let’s cut right to the chase:
For months now, I’ve been threatening you with a new repository for all those Trump-themed poems of mine, so here it is: TrumpinVerse.com.
A little background: my more faithful readers (all seven of you) may recall TheTrumpPoems.com — my former website of all-Trump-and-sycophants light verse. I more or less retired it after Biden’s inauguration in 2021, using the URL just to redirect wayward visitors to my primary website JohnBranning.com. Eventually, I let the site registration lapse.
I figured I was out of the Trump business once Joe and Kamala were on the scene — oh, how wrong I was. As Trump started to make noise that he was going to take back the White House, insurrection and court cases be damned, I generated new political comment and stuck it under the “Blog” menu on my site (drop down to “Political Poems”). And, of course, I also posted them to Facebook (some were banned!), Instagram and, more recently, Threads and BlueSky.
And then Trump won.
Hmm… time to reconsider what to post and where to post it. I didn’t want to resurrect The Trump Poems site after letting it lapse, so I considered some other allegedly clever titles and decided upon “Trump, In Verse.” I’m sure if I’d asked around someone could have come up with something better.
My plan was to launch the new site with a big splash on Inauguration Day. That didn’t work out for various technical reasons (my webmaster was also in charge of Carrie Underwood’s sound system at the U.S. Capitol), so I’m now online a day late and a $TRUMP meme coin short.
There are still a few tweaks I have planned for the new site, but it’s functional and resembles a concept of a plan and so here it is.
You’ll see I’ve organized *all* of the Trump-and-minions light verses I’ve published over the years (nearly 700!) on the site, broken into these categories:
1st Campaign and Term
Years In-Between
2nd Campaign and Term
I imagine the eventual creation of a fourth category:
Lingering Destruction of Law, Order, and Societal Fabric
but won’t put the cart before the horse.
Since the last edition of this newsletter, I’ve posted several new items — and now you know where you can go to find them. I will, however, include a link here to the first verse I generated, just this morning, during DJT’s first full day back in the saddle:
Kissing Off This Inauguration (01/21/2025)
I hope you enjoy (if that’s the right emotion) the new site. Your comments are most welcome. If you are inclined to share any of the links (to the site or this newsletter), you will be my friend for life whether you accept the honor or not.
Fasten your seat belts…
Best,
JB
